We are The Ark Preston. This is our new website. It all started as an idea of Jon McClure (Reverend & The Makers). Anyone around the age of 21-24 will remember him from touring with them young lads Arctic Monkeys in their early days, others from the hit single Heavyweight Champion of the World. He wanted to rebel against music media and start his own media platform for grass root musicians.

Sadly it was only an idea and his involvement didn’t really blossom. That’s nothing against the fella, he’s a busy man and the music/media industry isn’t one to spare time. Others did continue and Ark Mag was born early 2010. Other cities across the country were involved but Preston was the only city to print – the first copy released June 1st 2010.

Thirteen issues later and with content from around the UK dissolving, it was time to break away. Sadly print media is not what it once was but we’re still going to produce a magazine every three months. The main reason being the physical attraction of actually having something in your hand (kind of like buying a CD instead of *legally downloading the album).

So hopefully this site will be bigger, better and a hub for all things musical in Preston and it’s surrounding areas.
